The Best Happy Hours in South Florida, Organized by Neighborhood

Golden hour is a pricing strategy in South Florida. These 13 happy hours make it work in your favor. (Photo: Pexels)
The best happy hour in South Florida is not one bar — it depends on where you are standing at 5 PM. A Brickell rooftop, a Calle Ocho dance floor, a Las Olas sidewalk, and a Delray sushi bar all run a different version of the same deal: real drinks and real food at prices that disappear by dinner. This guide rounds up 13 happy hours across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, organized by neighborhood, with days, hours, and prices checked against each venue's official site this week.
Start with our food and drink guides, pair an early drink with the Coral Gables restaurants locals actually use, or keep the waterfront theme going with the best waterfront restaurants in South Florida.
How we chose these happy hours
Every pick has a happy hour published on its own official website — no secondhand listings, no expired flyers. We weighted the discount itself (half-price drinks and buck-a-shuck oysters beat a token $1 off), the food that comes with it, and the room: a happy hour should feel like the start of a night, not a waiting room for one. Deals change, so confirm the day's menu on the venue's site before a long drive — and note that several of these are bar-only.
Brickell & Downtown Miami
1. Area 31 — Downtown / Brickell edge
Sixteen floors up at the Kimpton EPIC, Area 31 runs its Social Hour on the terrace overlooking Biscayne Bay and the Miami River. The math is simple and generous: $7 beers, $8 wines by the glass, $9–$10 cocktails, and $10 tapas. Reservations are not required for Social Hour, and a DJ joins Thursday through Saturday. Best for: an after-work drink that feels like an occasion.
270 Biscayne Blvd Way, Miami · Social Hour Mon–Fri 5–8 PM, Sat–Sun 6–8 PM · Hotel valet parking · Outdoor terrace, bay views.
Little Havana
2. Ball & Chain — Calle Ocho
The 1935 Calle Ocho landmark does happy hour the Havana way: Ball & Chain offers two-for-one cocktails Monday–Friday, 4–7 PM — standard drinks buy one, get one — while a live trio plays and the dance floor warms up. Order the World Famous Ball & Chain Mojito and a Cubano, then stay: after 9 PM it is 21-and-over and the night fully turns up. Best for: visitors you actually want to impress.
1513 SW 8th St, Miami · Happy hour Mon–Fri 4–7 PM · Kitchen from 11 AM · Live music daily, no cover.

The terrace on Ponce makes it an easy meet-in-the-middle pick. Best for: a group that orders for the table.

Make the hour count
Two rules make every pick on this list better: arrive in the first hour, when bars are calm and oysters are plentiful, and check the venue's site the day you go — happy-hour menus rotate with the season. Morning-after recovery is covered too, in our best coffee shops in South Florida. For more ways to spend the evening, browse our things to do guides and the full BestofSFL directory.
